Best Repair Shop Software 2026 – Comparison for Small Workshops

At some point, every repair shop owner faces the same question: keep going with paper forms and spreadsheets, or switch to a digital solution? The good news is there are several options out there. The bad news is most of them are either too expensive, too complicated, or built for large enterprises.

I spent months looking for the right tool for my small repair shop. Nothing fit. So I built my own. In this article, I’ll compare the most common options honestly – including my own tool, with full transparency.

What Do Small Repair Shops Actually Need?

Before choosing any software, ask yourself what you really need. For most small workshops, these features matter most: digital repair intake (instead of paper), customer management with repair history, invoices and quotes, and a simple dashboard to see all active orders.

Anything beyond that – like inventory management, employee scheduling, or ERP integration – is usually overkill for a one-person shop or a small team, and comes with a hefty price tag.

The Options

Paper & Excel (Free)

Most small repair shops still work with paper forms and Excel. It works, sort of. But forms get lost, handwriting is unreadable, there are no automatic invoices, and you have zero overview once you hit 10-20 repairs per week.

RepairDesk (from $99/month)

RepairDesk is a comprehensive solution with inventory management, ticketing, and a POS system. It makes sense for larger shops with multiple employees. For small businesses, it’s too expensive and too complex. Setup takes hours to days.

RepairShopr (from $59/month)

Similar to RepairDesk, focused on the US market. It works, but the price is hard to justify for a small European workshop, and it lacks features like DATEV export that matter for German-speaking markets.

PunktePass Repair Form (Free / Premium from €39)

Full transparency: this is my own tool. I built it because nothing else fit my small repair shop. The focus is on simplicity: repair intake, invoices, customer management, and export. No complicated setup, no hidden costs. 50 forms per month are free forever.

My Verdict

If you run a small to medium repair shop and just want to get rid of paper forms, you don’t need a €100/month tool. Start with a simple, free solution and upgrade only when you actually need more.
